Abbotsford Senior Secondary becoming an ITA designated training centre

River Charlie, a recent graduate of Abbotsford Senior Secondary is back at school this year, but now as an employee, working alongside Chef Scott Roberts in the Professional Cook training program!

The Abbotsford Board of Education regularly meets throughout the school year. Agendas and minutes from the public Board Meetings can be accessed through the District's Electronic School Board. Below is a summary of highlights from the meeting. To do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and for everyone's safety, all public meetings of the Abbotsford Board of Education will be closed to the public and held virtually until further notice. Good afternoon.

Our district has partnered with researchers at SFU and UBC to deliver the Youth Development Instrument (YDI) survey to our Grade 11 students. The YDI builds on the Early Development Instrument (EDI) and the Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) to check in on student development, health, and well-being during adolescence, an important time as youth prepare to move into adulthood. The survey questions align with the BC Ministry of Education’s K-12 curriculum which includes a focus on promoting young people’s personal and social competencies.

Enhanced safety measures and $121.2 million in federal funding are on the way, as the Province continues to strengthen health and safety plans in K-12 schools to keep students, teachers and staff safe during the pandemic.

All middle and secondary students and K-12 staff will now be required to wear non-medical masks in all indoor areas, including when they are with their learning groups. The only exceptions are when:
