Application
Abby Senior is pleased to announce that applications for out-of-catchment students going into grades 9, 10 & 11 interested in the IB programme, are now being accepted for September 2025. These seats are limited and dependent on available space at the school. Download the appropriate application form found at the bottom of this page. The completed package is due by Thursday, February 27 and can be dropped off at Abby Senior's main office.
Key Dates for September 2025 Intake
- February 27: Deadline to submit IB application
- March 3-7: Applicants will be contacted for an interview if needed
- May: Applicants notified as to whether their application has been approved, denied, or deferred to a waitlist.
If your child is currently a student at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School there is no application process for the IB programme as recommendations will occur by their grade 10 teachers.
All the required documents (Birth Certificate, recent report card, and two (2) proofs of residence-original documents, Out of Catchment form) must be submitted to our Counselling Center. You can also scan everything as one pdf document, and e-mail it directly to barbara.glenn@abbyschools.ca.
Grade 9 Intake
Starting September 2024, there are no specific course offerings for Pre-IB 9. Instead, students will be provided with enrichment opportunities integrated within their regular BC Curriuclum 9 classes. These enhancements will challenge students with advanced concepts, critical thinking exercises, and opportunities for deeper exploration of subjects. Additionally, once a week during lunch hour, students can participate in IB-focused learning sessions in our school's Ignite club (students who are cross catchment are required to attend.) These sessions are designed to introduce them to the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, fostering skills and knowledge that will prepare them for the Pre-IB program in Grade 10. This blend of in-class enrichment and specialized IB sessions will help students transition smoothly into more rigorous academic pathways and introduce them to the IB community at Abby.
IB Exam Fees
As of September 2024 all students enrolled in IB courses in grade 11 will be assessed the following exam fee:
- $150 if enrolled in one (1) course
- $300 if enrolled in two (2) courses
- $450 if enrolled in three (3) or more courses
These fees will be added to School Cash and are to be paid by September 16 of the student's grade 11 year.
