We are pleased to announce the appointment of Pete Nuij as Assistant Superintendent, effective June 16, 2025.

With more than two decades of experience in public education, Pete brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role. He has served as a teacher, school-based administrator, District Principal, Director of Instruction, and most recently, Associate Superintendent of Education Services with the Vancouver School Board.

This National Accessibility Week, we took time to highlight the many ways our schools can become more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for all students—regardless of ability.

For the past 60-plus years, Abbotsford Senior Secondary has been the heartbeat of central Abbotsford.  You cannot be out and about anywhere in this city without meeting at least one Abby Sr graduate.  Over the course of the past two years, I have come to learn that being a Panther really means something. It is a cherished honour, one full of smiles, fond memories, lifelong friendships, and a whole lot of amazing academic and athletic accomplishments.

The Snowball Basketball Tournament at Abbotsford Senior Secondary (Abby Senior), one of the longest-running high school basketball tournaments in the province, marked its 63rd year with thrilling games, a legacy of excellence, and strong community support. Known for its high-quality competition, the tournament continues to attract top-tier teams from across Canada and the United States, cementing its reputation as a premier event in high school basketball.
